Rezumat

The article examines the role of diaspora communities, formed on the basis of economic, religious, or ethnic interests, in supporting newcomers and facilitating their integration and identity redefinition. Communication with the country of origin, facilitated by new technologies, remains essential for emigrants. The research, conducted within a doctoral program on “The Dynamics of Social Values in Romanian Communities in the United States of America”, investigates the social values expressed in online communities, drawing on the approaches of Rezohazy, Roshon, and Boudon, as well as Massey’s unified theory of migration. This qualitative study focuses exclusively on diaspora community websites, analyzing their missions, declared values, and announced activities. The findings highlight the presence of values that foster the development of both the host society and the country of origin, suggesting the establishment of balanced social ties.
