Rezumat

In this article we tried to outline an image of the phenomenon of discrimination in Romania, based on some findings of the survey EU-MIDIS (European Union Minorities and Discrimination Survey, 2010). The main issue is that only a small part of the states have collected good data on discrimination, which does not facilitate the politics development in the field. The lack of data in most states do not allow making a complex image about discrimination and it can’t be discussed about a comparison between states. Discrimination is a phenomenon with a long history, present in all societies, often transmitted as a custom even in the mentality and way of people’s life. Nevertheless, or rather because of the cultural footprint, only in recent years, European countries began serious studies and, simultaneously, creating actions to protect and support victims of this phenomenon.
