Abstract

Social assistance represents the ensemble of institutions, programs, measures, professionalized activities of protection of some persons, groups, communities which have social problems, being temporarily in difficulty. And all these grace to some personal reasons, economical-material, socio-cultural, biological or psychological ones. They can’t integrate into collectivities by middles and proper efforts within the limits of a normal life manner. Social assistance offers possibilities of knowing and access at specialized services of social protection to those that needs and it appeared as an answer to needs and human sufferings, and social need and need of social assistance existed and will exist forever.Romanian Orthodox Church develops a social assistance activity in having its own specialists that have the same studies and experience with all social assistants, and respect also the church’s rules and orders but also the actual legislation concerning social care. It has also under ordered institutions in the field that are working for helping people in needs.
