In the last decades, we have been theorized and studied about notion of risk society (Beck, 1992), more precisely about how different societies react to crises. If from a theoretical point of view, a lot has been established, from a practical point of view social life has become unexpectedly complicated because the crises are multiple and overlap: we have identified the period of the global pandemic, the historical changes in the labour market (with the shift to remote work), climate change, social inequality, the armed conflict in the EU neighbourhood or the unsettling advance of artificial intelligence. Some authors believe that the time has come to debate about 'great reset' (Schwab, Malleret, 2020) as a response to global crises to promote sustainable development (see also the targets of the UN 2030 Agenda). Considering the opportunity to create a more equitable and sustainable society, social research, in general, is at an inflexion point due to the multiple challenges generated by these simultaneous crises which can accentuate social divisions and tensions.

We invite interested colleagues and practitioners to submit specialized articles, based on their current, retrospective and future analyses, whereby to identify the main characteristics and trends of concern about the effects of the complex crisis on social world.

Empirical research, theoretical papers that investigate different perspectives and any researches with multiple levels of analysis focused on diverse crises and related social problems are welcome.

The deadline for submission of articles is May 30, 2023.

Publication language: English (with abstracts in Romanian, French and English).

We encourage authors who are ready to share their views and findings to submit their papers to: an-soc-as@uaic.ro; cristina_gavriluta@yahoo.fr ; lucian.sfetcu@gmail.com ; adrian.netedu@uaic.ro
