Abstract

The endeavour which we propose to our reader is an analysis of the central element of a public debate: the concept of resolution. Some aspects are relevant for the understanding of the discussed concept and its functionality in the discursive use: defining the resolution, the difference of meaning between resolution and proof, the norms according to which the resolutions of a public debate are chosen. This last aspect identifies two sorts of norms: external (public interest, the possibility to solve, the knowledge increase) and internal (dialectical character, problematological character, undecidable character).
