 Outline

We invite researchers, teachers, and doctoral students to submit article proposals for a collective volume dedicated to the theme of social issues and sociological diagnosis.

The challenges facing contemporary society are of an overflowing diversity. A synthesis of these can be found, for example, in the 2030 Agenda initiated by the United Nations. The social issues arising from them can have sources ranging from social inequalities to poverty, from the climate crisis to migration.  Understanding such phenomena requires the conceptual and methodological tools of sociology.

This volume aims to explore the causes, manifestations, and consequences of various social issues and eventually to suggest concrete solutions, based on research. All those interested in joining us, through various scientific contributions, are encouraged to approach interdisciplinary strategies or case studies, as well as new diagnostic methodologies.

The Scientific Annals of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași (New Series), Sociology and Social Work Section welcomes original, interdisciplinary research, theoretical, and empirical papers based on either qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methodology approaches that reflect current ideas and practices in the social paradigms/ideology and intercultural communication areas.

All submissions will undergo a peer-group review process.

The Scientific Annals of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași (New Series). Sociology and Social Work Section aims to promote the remarkable results of scientific and empirical research by professors, researchers, students, and practitioners in the field of social sciences, thereby stimulating the optimal functioning of academic and social fields. Analyses and theoretical-methodological sociological explanations, as well as the exemplification of their values at the political, developmental, and social work strategies and interventions level, are welcome.

Scientific Annals of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi (New Series) Sociology and Social Work Section are covered by several major indexing services, including Erich +, EBSCO, PROQUEST CSA-Sociological Abstract, PROQUEST-Social Services Abstracts, PROQUEST-Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, Ulrich, IBSS, CEEOL, SCIPIO and CNCSIS (2008-2011: B+ category).

English (with abstracts in Romanian, French, and English)

Deadline and submission

The deadline for submission of articles is 15th of October 2025.
